Brandon's goes off. 3 days of epic surf at Brandon's this week end and it is still on for Monday all be it a bit smaller. The vibe was a bit intense as this time of year there is a few more surfers around . Mainly Tourist some fairly experienced surfers that hold their side and seldom have confrontation and some less experienced that seem to constantly be in the way. As one local said if you are wearing booties out here you should not be out here. I can see both points of view here the tourist afraid of the unknown ie, cobblers or stone fish and the local just not putting his foot on the bottom until he is leaving the water. How many times have you seen a surfer in a magazine wearing baggies and booties Never the less the weekend passed without major incedent which is very good considering the numbers went from 6-8 people on the break any day last week to 26 -30 on the week end. I managed to bag a few good ones on Friday and Saturday but Sunday after nearly running over a few stray paddling surfers loitering in the critical part of the reform i kind of lost my MOJO the wave also droped off considerably so tomorrow is another day. I just remembered a comversation a few months ago with Matthew upon his return from a Jamacian surf trip, He was saying how much he would have liked to have had his booties  after standing on a cobbler while exiting the water 5 ft from the beach. Apparently if you miss the exit path by 10 ft each way at this particular break in Jamacia you are in big trouble . This one incounter with the reef cost him dearly a foot full of black urchins which a friend had to remove while he knocked back a bottle of rum and a smashed up brand new Al Merric Flyer. So the latest meaning of dread or dead which we are asked daily (with or without booties) Just surf ,Russell
