Dread Or Dead: Stand Up Paddle

Since laird Hamilton and the old windsurf crew started the stand-up paddle, Dread or dead slowly got involved ourselves. First brought to our attention in Barbados by Brian Talma our long-time friend, it has taken some time for it to catch on in the Caribbean.  Brian told me many times it was the thing to do, it keeps you fit, you can get to the outside breaks easily, and you can challenge bigger waves. As a core surfer I’m still not completely convinced. However I’ve been doing it a few years now and it does fill a void and as I get older I can see it being more my thing. As a surfer I see it more as an extension of surfing than canoeing. I love all the new board designs and materials being currently experimented with and as all the best surf shapers in the world get involved it is increasing looking like the place to be. As you have probably realised by now dread or dead is firmly involved.  We keep all the best brand names in both boards and paddles. We also teach first timers how to SUP and more advanced paddle boarders surf techniques. Our favourite tour which Kevin and  I pioneered a few years back(while teaching family members) is through Carsile bay , with its sandy beach, flat water , mostly light winds, This I discovered is the ideal conditions for first timers . This location is quickly becoming the most popular spot for Paddle boarders in Barbados. Dread or Dead specialises in paddlesurf/sales/paddles/fins/traction/board bags and leashes.
