Dread or Dead has been a big part of the surf Barbados surf scene for 60 years ,owner Russell Garrett was a little Grom during the 60’s acquiring his first surfboard from Fishermans corner with a little help from his parents .it was an Australian Glassfiber surfboard called Ron . imported into Barbados by Freights Allen a then famous Barbadian cricketer & recreational surfer . Russell Garrett is now the owner of Dread or Dead surf shop/surf school over 60 yrs later.A small family run Buisness. Surf Barbados during the 60’s was almost pioneering as there was absolutely no internet .Imagine all surf information in those days was done by magazine or word of mouth.
